Melissa Formosa
Melissa Formosa is the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator of the Victorian hip dysplasia registry (VicHip). She oversees the implementation of the registry state-wide, including ethics, governance, recruitment, registry activities and supports the clinical research teams at each site.
Experience
Melissa (Mel) has extensive experience of 24 years in managing and coordinating clinical trials and registries, along with clinical research auditing and monitoring. She has coordinated registries across multiple sites, randomised controlled trials, clinical research, clinical audits and ethics submissions. Each of these initiatives has required extensive collaboration with various stakeholders at a senior level.
Mel has been heavily invested in mentoring students in clinical trial settings and is passionate about it. As a result of their mentoring, many students have achieved successful careers in academia, clinical practice and industry. Mel has also mentored orthopaedic surgeons, registrars and fellows.
During her career at MCRI, she has encouraged research collaborations with The Royal Children's Hospital Orthopaedic Department and fostered a supportive scientific research culture. Mel provides guidance and assistance in ethics and governance, champions Good Clinical Practice, and strives to enhance the collective knowledge of her team.
Interests
