What are PROMs?
Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are tools or surveys designed to collect information directly from the perspective of the patient or caregiver about their child’s health, care and well-being. These measures are used globally in clinical registries and medical research.
Share your insights through PROMs
We believe that families are our most important partners in shaping the future of hip care and services in Victoria. If you are a parent or caregiver of a child with hip dysplasia, your real-life experiences and insights are incredibly valuable to our research.
We invite you to share your honest feedback through our online participant surveys using Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). Your input plays an important role in improving the quality of healthcare in our community and achieving better outcomes for people with hip dysplasia. Together, we can make great strides in better understanding and managing the condition.
Why are PROMs important?
PROMs give researchers and doctors a deeper understanding of the real-world impact of a disease or condition, such as hip dysplasia. At VicHip, PROMS help guide our research efforts and identify areas for improvement in care and treatment. This could lead to new and better ways to screen, diagnose and manage hip dysplasia.
How your feedback helps
By taking part in our PROMs surveys, you’ll help us:
👉 Understand your child's experience: Gain insights into how hip dysplasia impacts your child's quality of life, including pain, mobility, and emotional well-being
👉 Track your child's progress: Compare your child's journey with others and monitor changes over time
👉 Evaluate treatment effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of treatments and explore personalised care strategies
👉 Identify contributing factors: Uncover factors that might contribute to the causes and risks of hip dysplasia
👉 Give your child a voice: Provide a platform for you and your child to share what's working or what’s not confidentially
👉 Improve healthcare: Spot trends or variations in patient experiences to enhance the healthcare system
👉 Address disparities: Understand how factors like family background and geographic location (rural, regional and metropolitan) affect access to care, costs and patient outcomes.
We’ll occasionally ask for your insights through these optional surveys at key points, such as during your child's developmental milestones or treatment phases. Participation is completely voluntary, and you can change your mind anytime. This will not affect your relationship with your doctor or clinician.
